Camden Town, The Canal & Primrose Hill: An Urban Adventure

Camden Town, The Canal & Primrose Hill: An Urban Adventure

Start at the legendary World's End pub and discover Camden with a guide who was born and raised here.

We'll leave the busy High Street behind and head into Camden's hidden backstreets and markets, colourful street art, historic buildings, great photo opportunities and places many visitors simply walk past.

But before Camden became famous for music and markets, it was built on industry.  Discover how this part of London became a centre for piano making, engineering, transport and construction, and how the Industrial Revolution helped shape the streets around us.

Then it's time for music, fashion and counterculture.  From the Swinging Sixties onwards, Camden reinvented itself. We had Vegans 40 years ago! Hear how musicians, artists, alternative culture and a changing London transformed the neighbourhood, and helped create the world-famous Camden Market.  Then the city changes...  We leave Camden's urban energy behind and join the beautiful Regent's Canal.  Walk beside colourful narrowboats, under elegant bridges and waterside homes as we follow a waterway that once carried goods through industrial London and today feels like a hidden oasis.  Fans of Slow Horses should keep their eyes open too , we'll stop at the bench where Jackson and Cavanagh have their clandestine meetings! Sit down, recreate the scene and grab a photo!

Next stop: Primrose Hill. Leaving the canal, we'll enter the elegant, tree-lined streets of Primrose Hill and suddenly London feels very different again.  Discover beautiful Victorian houses, hidden mews and picturesque streets that have attracted writers, artists, musicians, actors and some very famous residents over the years.  Film fans will also recognise locations from the much-loved Paddington movies.

And, of course, there'll be plenty of time for photos, questions and conversation along the way, I'm always happy to take photos of you or your group.

And we've saved the best until last...  We'll make the gentle climb to the top of Primrose Hill, where one of London's great panoramic views is waiting for us.  From the summit, look across the capital towards The Shard, the London Eye, the City, Canary Wharf and beyond.  Our walk finishes in Primrose Hill Village, surrounded by independent cafés, restaurants and traditional pubs. If you fancy staying around, why not grab some lunch, have a drink and enjoy one of London's most beautiful neighbourhoods?

Made for curious travellers who enjoy culture, photography, walking and discovering a different side of London.

And because I was born and raised in Camden, you'll get more than the usual tourist story. You'll experience the neighbourhood I grew up in before we leave Camden behind and discover three completely different sides of London.  Camden. Canal. Primrose Hill.  One walk. Three very different stories.  So don't mess about , book your place and get steppin'!

About Ten Thousand Steps Tours London

Our core values are founded in promoting a good walk, good health and happiness

10,000 Steps Tours was founded by Nicholas Claridge, a born-and-bred Londoner with a lifelong passion for walking and exploring the city. Drawing on his career as a drama and English tutor supporting young people in London who were experiencing life challenges, Nicholas witnessed first-hand the powerful impact that walking could have on improving both physical and mental health.

Inspired by these experiences and sharing London over the years with his many international friends, he created 10,000 Steps Tours to combine the benefits of movement, mindfulness, and discovery — encouraging people to “get their 10,000 steps in” while uncovering the real London, its hidden corners, secret stories, and everyday beauty.

Each walk offers an authentic and restorative experience — healthy for body and mind, and perfect for discovering places you’ll love sharing with friends. A portion of the profits from 10,000 Steps Tours helps to fund Nicholas’s ongoing work with young people in London, continuing his mission to support wellbeing, confidence, and connection through creativity and exploration.
